When it comes to selling a home, you know that curb appeal is one of the key factors in attracting a buyer’s attention. It’s also what entices them to explore the interior of the house.
The same concept is true for your website. Think of your homepage like the front of your house. Visitors’ first impression will either encourage them to spend more time on your site or drive them away.
38% of people will stop engaging with a website if it is unattractive
In this month’s Mastermind, Kaitlin and Taryn discuss some important tips to ensure your homepage has great curb appeal. The full video will be available on our site tomorrow but here’s a sneak peek to hold you over:
Keep Up With Current Trends
If you were to pull up to a brown shotgun ranch home, you’d probably assume that you’ll find wood paneling and shag carpet inside, right? That’s why you want your homepage to look modern and up-to-date. If your homepage looks like it hasn’t been touched in years, then chances are visitors will assume the information is out-of-date too. Take a look at other sites to find the latest trends. And, of course, you can always consult a designer!
Display Your Contact Information
Have you ever gone to visit a friend’s house for the first time and pull up in front of what you hope is their house but aren’t sure because you can’t find the darn house number? It’s really frustrating! Ultimately, the goal of your website is to put you in contact with prospective home buyers or sellers. So don’t make figuring out how to get in touch with you a challenge.
Make it Easy to Navigate
Remember those split-level foyers that had two sets of stairs, one going up and the other going down? If you’d never been to that house before you wouldn’t know where to go to find the living room. Once a visitor is on your homepage, make it clear where they should go next! Make sure your buyer and seller calls to action are clear so the user can easily find what they came for.
